Where in the World?

Where in the world do you find a lighthouse as magnificent as this?
It was built in the 18th century as a proud fort with a square inner courtyard.

It is situated at the Punta de la Entallada - the closest point to Africa, which is only about 60 miles away. There is said to be a twin on the African coast.

When you first catch a glimpse of the lighthouse it looks like a fairy tale castle high up on the mountain. The problem is it requires nerves of steel to survive the death defying drive up the perilous mountain track.

It's worth it to see the amazing view over long stretches of coast to Esquinzo.

This is a monarch butterfly - really big and beautiful - which was fluttering over the bourgainvillea at Pajara.

This is the volcanic landscape where we were on the ministry work on Thursday.

A typically Canarian house.

We could see our village of La Capellania in the distance above the prickly pears.

The statuesque flower of the Agave.
