Yes, Fuerteventura (the island itself, the sea around and the air above) has been designated a World Biosphere Site. That means that if anyone says that it is just a boring desert island or a dull volcanic rock they are wrong - it is officially a place of outstanding natural beauty!
I had some wonderful pictures to prove it but I have had a bit of a disaster. I downloaded them on to the laptop, deleted them from the camera and now the laptop is not working - so I have lost the lot!
Never mind, we have had a glorious week. Lots of warm hospitality from the brothers and lots of snorkelling in the lagoons (the water is beautifully warm and there are so many wonderful fish, it´s like swimming in an aquarium). David gave the public talk on Sunday and we have managed to get two of the mummy cats caught and spayed. The third is proving more elusive although we will keep trying!
I probably won't be able to post any photos until we get back next week, but I hope to get some decent underwater ones if I can.

Welcome to our page.
Since this is the year we are hoping to spend more time in Fuerteventura we wanted to be able to share pictures and experiences with all our friends back home.
We purchased our villa in La Capellania in May 2005 and, until now, have spent many enjoyable holidays in the sun.
The semi-desert Island of Fuerteventura lies just under 100km off the coast of Africa (near the border of Morocco and Western Sahara). It enjoys a near-perfect climate with average monthly temperatures ranging from 17°C in January to 25°C in August. Fuerteventura is the longest Island in the archipelago at 98km north to south and the second-largest Canary Island after Tenerife.
The unforgiving barren and arid interior of the island shares much with it's African neighbours of Morroco and the Western Sahara including sparse rainfall, rocky-desert landscapes (the temperature of these rocks can reach 67°C on a hot day!) and simple flat-roofed white-washed villages. Fuerteventura is perhaps most famous for it's beaches, with over 50km of stunning white and golden sand.
With sunshine all year round and very little rain the landscape is very arrid but it is still very beautiful. With one hundred and fifty beaches to explore there is space and tranquility for all, with it's crystal clear turquoise sea and with white, golden and black volcanic sand beaches you will find plenty to choose from.
