An Eventful Week!

This "Google Earth" image shows our village, La Capellania, on the right and the crater of the large volcano, Calderon Hondo on the left.
We thought it did not look too far, so decided that, instead of driving to Lajares and walking from there as we usually did, we would attempt to trek across the volcanic lanscape to reach the volcano.
It was actually much further than it looked but the scenery was interesting and the recent rain had made it much greener than usual.

From the top of the volcano there are the most amazing views over to Lanzarote. However we were more interested in the little chipmunks that lived inside the crater.

They were so cute and friendly!

Although they were always alert to the eagles that were soaring overhead.

I caught this one stealing biscuits from my bag!

We eventually had to leave the chipmunks and start the long walk back home!

Suzie won the brain teaser on local radio QFM - and was fortunate enough to win the famous "Whine Box" which was presented to her by JB, the radio station's DJ (who also did a dedication to me on the radio!)

This is a locust that was left on the doorstep as a present from our family of feral cats.

This is a very large and beautifully marked moth that flew in the window one evening.

We found this turtle shell on the beach, not far from an ancient cannon ball.

And finally, as it was time to go home, the moon rose over the horizon.
It looked so big and beautiful but as I only had my compact camera with me I could not really do it justice.

A short clip of a little chipmunk!
