I think the highlight of the last couple of weeks was our visit to Oasis Park in the South of the Island.
It is set in the most beautiful gardens, almost like paradise!
This is the "Jungle Bus" that transported us to the botanical gardens.
Quite a bumpy ride!
There were so many animals to see....
I thought the meercats were my favourite....

until we saw the performing sealions....

and then the cheetah....

then the otters....

They were so sweet!

The reptile show was good too...

and then there were the camels...
These two babies seemed to delight in pulling funny faces...
while the bigger ones stood around looking aristocratic.

There was a really spectacular bird of prey demonstration with eagles, vultures and huge owls flying freely above us. They released them from the top of a nearby mountain.

It was a bit like being on safari with the giraffes and other African animals.
and the free flying birds were beautiful too.

when we decided to explore the volcanoes and lava fields behind our village.
This is a view of the village, La Capellania, from this area, with the sea and mountains in the background. Note the very rugged terrain.
We discovered some large new statues and some pretty little corners.

and, of course, our favourite lagoon!
I was pleased with this photo as I thought it looked more like a painting.
It is the ruined outbuildings of the Casa de los Coronels in La Oliva.
Although the main building has been restored.
After the meeting on Sunday we were serenaded by a Canarian band in the shopping centre while, during the week, Corralejo was hosting an international blues festival.

We watched the sun set behind the mountains thinking how romantic and peaceful it was.
Very quickly the light went and we found ourselves in total darkness in the middle of nowhere surrounded by huge boulders and goats that looked like little demons in the gloom!
We spent our last few days revisiting some of our favourite places

I'm glad I wasn't trying to sleep in that area!
Well, all good things come to an end so, with great sadness we said "Hasta Luego!" to the Island and look forward to returning very soon.
